3 Reasons Why Your Style Is Important

If you feel like there are more important things to do besides mastering the art of putting together ensembles and styling your hair, you’re not alone. You maybe never had a natural flair or really cared for fashion and focused on other areas that take precedence like career, children, other family members and practicing fun hobbies. Or you may have experienced situations where you were judged on looks and want to rebel against seeming to care. Laziness can also take part in not presenting the best you. I know, I have my REALLY off days too!

Taking the time to look good can get a bad rap. We often see prima-donna divas on TV taking hours to get ready while their significant others are counting the hours while looking at their watch. This my friends, doesn’t have to be the case.

Numerous studies have proven that our outer appearance and how we feel about ourselves affects our mental health and those around us. Putting effort into our minds, bodies and style will be a positive trifecta. For example, you can have a perfect body, the most fashionable clothes but can be received as “ugly” without an attitude of gratitude . You can be super smart and be in shape but without style you give off a out-of-date and don’t care about yourself vibe. Do you get my drift? Why not give off your best you in all areas?

Here are a few things to consider before you throw in your “fashionable towel”:

Wardrobe Facts:

1.  We All Need to Wear Clothes…We Might As Well Look Good In Them.

Fortunately fashion doesn’t have to be ALL or nothing.  Not every FAB looking women spends endless hours primping. One of the sexiest women I know, Natalie Bolton(pictured below), wears jeans, boots, ripped up t-shirts and rarely spends anytime on her hair. This messy yet extremely stylish look works for her! She always looks like she just rolled out of bed…after a hot romp in the sack. She has a sex appeal, with minimal primp time, that you can’t buy. It’s her being her down-to-earth and sexy self. She is always furthering her education(mind) help herself and those around her, works out intensely 3-5 times a week(body) and has her style down!

What is your being? Is it romantic, feminine, minimal, business with boldness, flirty or array of colors that project a serene aura? I challenge you to find  your personal style. Getting ready in a reasonable time is easy when you have a wardrobe where EVERYTHING works.  And yes, I mean everything! Like any other skill you took effort in learning it will get easier and become second nature.

2. The Most Successful & Influential People In The World Put Great Thought Into Their Wardrobe.

Oprah, Obama, Mrs. Obama, TD Jakes, George Clooney, Madonna and many more top influential people put careful consideration into their wardrobe. Even , who some to consider the least fashionable man, Steve Jobs, who wore black turtlenecks and Levi’s 501 jeans had a plan. Almost everyday he put effort into making this very simple look his signature uniform. He even had his turtlenecks designed by Issey Miyaki, one of the most popular designers. Again, his look isn’t for everyone…but it worked for him.

Forbes Magazine quotes:

“Appearance is extraordinarily powerful because it’s the first filter,” says Sylvia Ann Hewlett, an economist and the founding president of the Center for Talent Innovation (CTI). According to a year-long study of over 4,000 college-educated professionals and 268 senior executives, conducted by CTI and Marie Claire magazine, “looking like a leader is the first step to becoming one. In order to portray “executive presence,” superiors must perceive you as having gravitas, excellent communication skills and a polished appearance.

You may not be leading a huge crowd but you can influence the people around you in a positive way. Messages are better received from a prepared and pretty package. If wardrobe planning works for successful and popular life changing personas it can work for you!

3. Style is a Visual Representative of You.

Your personality is not the first thing people see…it’s your image.  In 3 seconds or less we are summed up. Your choice of wardrobe can either add or takeaway from life’s opportunities. Wouldn’t you agree enhancing our mind, body and style is the best choice?

STYLE TIP:

Knowing your style personality, what colors complement you and what cuts fit and flatter your body shape will keep you looking good and feeling GREAT  in no time at all! If your fashion is a challenge, simplify your wardrobe. Find a few styles and cuts that work for you and replicate. For example, if you feel best in jeans and t-shirts; find the designers that work best for your body shape. Is it Jbrand, Joe’s or Citizen of Humanity? Try on v-necks, scoop and boat necks. Which one looks the best? Then purchase in flattering colors that can be mixed and matched. Next time your running late you  can reach into your closet grab a bottoms and a top. Slip into it and go!
